means your cervix is 80% thinned out. when I went to labor and delivery I was 100% effaced and 4 cm dialated. still took me 4 days to give birth cause I stalled at 5 cm for 3 days before they decided to induce me. everything is opening up in way for baby to come out

It means your cervix is getting soft and starting to open up and baby is moving farther down toward the birth canal. I was 80 effaced for a week before I had my daughter

I don't know how long it took me. I probably had been thinking out for weeks and didn't know. I knew I was dialating cause I kept getting lighting croch a few days before.

@ang20, its so hard to say. For me with my last pregnancy once i found out i was 60% thinned i went into labor and was 100% thinned 3 days later. but some women it takes longer and some its quicker. good luck mama.
