I am so annoyed and I need to talk to my husband and let him know I don't like my mother in law insisting on holding our son when she has clearly been drinking.

Breathe and talk to your hubby Hun! If you can talk to your MIL too. Explain and express your worries and concerns. Reminding her she can hold baby when she is sober. You are the mommy your feelings matter... They need to respect you!!!!

She will take it all personal and be a bitch about the whole ordeal @heavenwings

My MIL has been an alcoholic too then ended up with liver failure and she switched to pain medication!! She is really being controlling because my husband and I are having problems and she becomes rude and mean like she turns me out when I try to talk to her.. She is now all mad at me for my husband her son choosing to separate or a while!!! So I am relating to your pain and frustrations. Some men can be very good with there moms vs there wife's others are mommy boys still and need a bit more of a push... How do you feel your hubby will respond to your concerns?

I don't know. We will see I guess. It just instantly pissed me off when she picked him. I don't want somebody breathing alcohol on my baby who is a month old ( born 5 weeks early) so he is a premie and yes he is a very strong little man but that's besides the point. What if she falls. I don't want to take a chance with her hurting my son. I already lost one of my sons. So yes maybe I am over protective. @heavenwings I just hope my husband is on my side because even tho I don't talk to my mom I'm sure if she was drinking and holding him ( standing and walking around with him) he would have a problem with.

It makes sense and I would hope your Hub can understand. Maybe even telling her to sit down if she is going to hold him. If she says why tell her because I would feel better if you did. Sounds like bringing up her drinking is a trigger for her... Make it sound like yours or baby's needs.. Also can you make it so she isn't around all the time? Maybe met her at a park or out to lunch. Environment can help changes too... @babyveach

Not really a trigger because she's just as immature drinking as she is sober and she has to have an attitude about everything and somehow everything is about her even if the subject is nothing to do with her. I just care way too much about my son to just keep it bottled up because that changed my mood so much I hated it. @heavenwings

@babyveach, I would keep busy with your son and limit the time your available. Your not doing anything wrong girl you are the one she should respect.. It sounds so frustrating for sure. I wish and hope things get better.
