So off subject. I'm a step mom to 4 step daughters n yesterday my mother in law gave me permission to put my 15 year old step daughter on birth control. What do u mothers recommend?
I don't recommend the depo shot I was on it never missed a shot never late and here I am 12 weeks pregnant and my sister also got pregnant not depo
I was put on the pill at 15 but I don't recommend try something other then the pill like the shot
I was put on it at that age, not because I was having sex, but to help regulate my periods
@asht09, well it's better to have her on it than trust that she will be using condoms all the time. So I suggest telling her to continue using condoms as she has her birth control. Just to be super safe. She should be okay. I think mine failed me because it was towards the end of my third month and I didn't use a condom so the birth control wasn't strong enough anymore.
@bishop0301, that's what I was thinking what if the bc fails. IDK what I'm going to do
My mom started me on the depo shot when I was 17 because I moved out. It worked for a few months lol then I got pregnant 😂 just remember that it's not always a for sure thing but I suggest the depo
@asht09, just saw ur comment before. don't let it be a choice, if she's going to have sex she needs to be on birth control. (That's how my mom would explain it to me) she's making an adult decision to become intimate so she needs to be an adult and take the precautions to go with it ..sex isn't fun and games(technically lol).
if you take her to an OB they will tell her all her BC options, and help her pick.
@myliltadpole1116, I'm pretty sure she will not take the pill right she's not responsible enough to take it.
@asht09, I started birth control at 14, for other reasons than sex. The pill is probably the best thing but also, her OB may have an idea since they see plenty of young women and know what works best for them. The problem with the pill is if u miss one , you are more likely to get pregnant . For a second choice , I think the patch may be a good bet. I have very sensitive skin so it bothered me, but it's nice because you can just leave it on and only have to change it once a week, I think.
@kelseys, it's just like frustrating for me because that's something u don't wanna think about. She already said NO to the pill. So IDK what to get her on. I had the nexplanon for a while before I got pregnant n I loved it.
Birth control does NOT cause infertility as mentioned above. There is no medical basis to that statement. Or even affect your ability to get pregnant. I got off the pill after being on it for 15 years for heavy periods and was pregnant in 3 weeks! I would talk to your stepdaughter though. Don't just take someone else's word for it that she is sexually active.
okay, well as long as she agrees. because it sucks to be forced on it. but I don't recommend the pill, she'll forget and I always hear stories about women getting pregnant on it. I personally like the depo shot, and the IUD I believe is the most effective but I didn't like it.
I would get her on a low dosage of birth control pills, I think anything else is a bit too much at her age. Just make sure she sets her alarm, for me it was easier to take at night.
@kelseys, She's agreeing to get on something. N unfortunately she's having sex.
As a user of birth control I think she should get the implant on the arm. I had that for a while n loved it. As for the pill I don't think she's responsible enough for it.
coming from someone who was forced on BC, talk to your step daughter first, don't just take your mil word for it. BC can leave effects like infertility if she decides to ever have children later on. Is she even having sex? See how she feels about it first.
I got the arm implant thing at 15 and got it out at 17. But really you should talk to her, and her doctor and come to the conclusion together
I took the pill at 16 and was fine. But if she can't be trusted to take the pills every day I would say get her the shot or the implant because it's more long term and doesn't have to be remembered every day. My step sister is 13 and her mom found out she's been sexually active since she was 12 and knows she can't be trusted to take a pill every day so she got her the shot. I wouldn't recommend the iud though unless she's already given birth. The doctors will tell you it's safe for everyone but IUDs don't seem to be made for placement into a uterus that hasn't been stretched with a baby. I've had friends that it's punctured through the wall of their uterus and caused permanent damage.

So I found this on my bed this evening from my step mother

Me with my oldest daughter 🤣🤣🤣🤣 my mother was PISSED
Just curious as to how a mother is so careless with her children that her 15 year old got pregnant and has 7 possibilities for the father .and one of the possibilities , is her STEP FATHER . WATCH. YOUR . KIDS.
I honestly can't wait for the intense pain of contractions, to go in labor and have my husband by my side each step of the way, finally pushing our daughter out info the world just the thought just makes me so emotional and excited I CAN'T WAIT FOR SEPTEMBER ,
*on depo sorry
