How can guy tell if a newborn has diarrhea?

basically if baby is going more than what he or she is taking in

even that can change as baby gets older but yes and its more watery...which I know is hard when its already pretty runny. Its more like discolored liquid and very very foul smelling

I would mostly look for signs of dehydration and go by that. If baby starts acting more lethargic, make an appointment with urgent care or go right to the er

Okay, he pooped like 4 times in a matter of a few hours, he ate 3 3oz bottles though, so I'm not sure. 😐 @showersoverflowers

It is harder to tell with breastfed babies. but if it smells different or is a different color can be a good sign.

It could be the shot giving him loose stools. If it doesn't get better though you might wanna take him in. Just keep an eye on him and make sure he's not getting a fever.

My kids got diarrhea and slight fever from some of their vaccines. nothing serious but it still was sad to see them uncomfortable

Yeah... I'm hoping so. 😐 he was fine earlier, just a few times, so I'm hoping maybe it's just from all he's eaten. It hasn't been a ton either when he has pooped. @michellevaldez4750

nothing wrong with being a little more vigilant! just keep tabs on messy diapers and bottles. maybe even weigh the diapers if you are more concerned. Usually signs of dehydration are all you need to watch for though

That's good that it's not a lot, but yeah like @showersoverflowers said, there's nothing wrong with being vigilant, especially with your first baby. You don't know until you go through things.

My son would literally explode every single time he nursed. not even kidding. I started holding a towel under him so we could get through feedings without poop all over me hahaha Its completely normal as their little digestive systems mature

i hope he gets back to his normal soon :)
