So what are you thoughts of "One of the best things you can do for your child is respect his/her mother." ?
I've seen this a couple times lately from some women posting it and someone posting how ridiculous it is..
Personally I'm torn.. part of me says yes that's a good thing to respect the mother of your child for many reasons.. she bore your child on top of the fact that you need to teach your child to respect her and show a boy how to treat a woman and a girl how she deserves to be treated. Another part of me says it's not the best thing to do.. it comes after being there for your child.. what if you aren't together and you just don't have respect for her? What if she's out of the picture and you're a single dad.. you can't have respect for someone who isn't there for their child... How do you all feel about the post?

I feel like if the child or children ask the single parent about there other parent that they should not bad mouth them. also i feel that bad mouthong them in front of a child aswell should not happen wait foe the child to out of the way.kids do get confused that way. just saying!

My personal opinion is that respect is earned. I don't think anyone on the earth deserves blind respect. I agree with @kaisynsmummie8716 that if a child asks about the other parent then they should never be bad mouthed. Children will learn in time and come to their own conclusions about their parents. Being civil to each other in the childs presence is just maturity. Again, just my two cents.

I feel that a parent should never disrespect or talk disrespectfully about the child's other parent in front of the child period. Both of my parents badly disrespected each other all the time in front of me and it pissed me off at both of them.

I do even still today my parents have been divorced 22 years and my dad still talks negative about my mom and even though she wasn't the greatest it still erks me and makes me not want to talk to him.

I see what you mean.. that makes me while heartedly agree with the post because my parents have talked shit about eachother my whole life too.. so when I look at it that way
