I don't know how you girls did it. i didn't realize how hard breast feeding is, til I had to do it by myself... I felt so bad I can't help him get the food he needs... he was doing amazing with one of the older nurses but now he is really struggling... I love him so much and just want to give him everything he needs. I know it's hard for him because I just had him this morning and he's obviously still learning as well. I just feel like maybe It's me and I can't produce enough colostrum that he needs.... I feel like my baby is counting on me and I just kind of failed a little bit...😢😢

Have you asked one of the nurses for a pump or how to hand express the colostrum? My little girl had to use a nipple shield but when that wasn't working we hand expressed/pumped until the next feeding and would try again

@kreeblim, yeah I've been hand expressing to help get it started and obviously I'm doing something wrong because barely any is coming out..

Your baby's stomach is still super small so it's normal for baby to nurse frequently to help you produce more milk. Keep putting baby to breast. You can do it momma!

Try a nipple shield for right now mama, it helps bring it out a little and will help him latch.

@lilbabyboy16, ask the nurses or the lactation consultant they have. If they don't give you one, have your hubby run to target or babies r us! But the hospital should give you one.

@lilbabyboy16, don't be so hard on yourself relax 🙏🏻 when I had my daughter my milk didn't come in till days after I had her 😞 and the colostrum was just so little but after 2days it was so much I produced a lot of milk my boobs looked like balls lol

his stomach is so tiny it doesn't take much to get him full even even you think your not making enough, it's enough keep trying even if it gets painful just work on the latch your milk will come in soon just breast feed on demand and stay hydrated the more you feed the more milk your body will produce it gets easier keep it up your doing great!

Keep trying. Colostrum is thick so it's harder to express or pump. Hs tummy is about the size od a cherry so he really doesnt need much.
