I failed my glucose test and it was really high. my question to you ladies who have been through it is why I would fail such a test if I workout regularly, I eat a healthy diet, and I don't eat or drink anything sweet?
I failed the 1hr and the 3hr so they put me on a all carbohydrate diet til my sugars stabilize that's all.
no its not a weight issue or genetic (most of the time) or how well u exercise they just testing ur kidneys...with both my pregnancies I was borderline gestational diabetic and I had a sedentary lifestyle
so it isn't specifically from being over weight or not exercising (which I do and am not overweight) but can it be from family traits?
the "sugar" test is just to see how u body handles an high dose of sugar and how effectively ur kidneys can filter the excess sugars in 1hr and another in 3hrs if ur sugars are too high from the 1st hr of the test
during pregnancy there is a hormone that blocks our ability to make the right amount of insulin needed to help regulate our blood sugars. some of the most healthy people will have gestational diabetes. I'm a diabetic before pregnancy and getting my blood sugars right was very difficult in my 3rd trimester because I just wasn't absorbing insulin. most times gd will go away after baby is born.
