Anyone else on here against sitting their children in front of a tv, ipad, or phone for hours at a time? I want my kid to be engaged in different activities. Also, babies shouldn't be in front of a tv.... it's bad for their eye development.
I loved being outside as a child and even now, I find it to be so peaceful and I think a lot of people take nature for granted. I was very active, played sports (badly) but it was still so much fun. I had a great imagination and still do, I loved playing imaginative games with the kids I cared for. @mrsmamagryffindor
Definitely. I'm limiting screen time for them. My wife and I are creative souls in general so, I want my children to be able to find entertainment, creativity and fun in other things. Although, not so much that they aren't in touch with basic technology. Lol but why does a 4 year old need to know how to manipulate an IPAD? I mean really...I'm a 90's kid. When I was very young, I played with boxes, dirt and barbies. Technology didn't become a thing until much later in life and I'm still very good with it. I see no reason why I shouldn't raise my kids similarly.
My daughter never showed interest but when she turned one she did. And even now the most she'll still down to watch tv is max 15- 30 mins a day. She rather pick up a book cause she sees me reading all the time. Kids mimic everything we do.
yes he gets mad but oh well lol & he isnt allowed near my phone big NONO . im very strict with that
I love that! @mommydiva16 Kids need restrictions.
i have my 6yr old....on a strict rule. only tv after hw for an hr. and only ipad time on weekends. also he cant take any devices outside with him.
I think that if they become interested in watching tv, they should have a time restricted. But if they show no interest, I'm sure as hell not going to introduce it to them lol. The kids I was a nanny for were obsessed with their ipads, the mom wanted me to restrict it but then they would just ask her to use them and she would say yes lol.... No backbone. They were like zombies. @amaperalta03 Most mom's don't know that they aren't supposed to sit a baby in front of tv, they have baby Einstein for 6 month olds and they aren't supposed to be looking at t.v.
That's what I'm hoping to do too. I work from my phone or laptop at home so I'm not sure if it'll work but I think a lot of the time I'm on my phone its just because I'm bored and I don't see myself having time to be bored when my baby gets here lol @sarinunez
Agreed my daughter didn't sit and watch tv till she's one. And now she's on a restricted time for the tv. And she only uses the iPad when we are out shopping or on long car rides to keep her entertained.
I think once children are more alert, they'll notice us being on our phones and it'll spark their interest. I'm not in my phone as often as I used to, but I'll definitely cut back a lot when I have my son and he's a little older. @usmcwife
I completely agree. I am guilty of being on my phone a lot but I really don't want to raise my kid that way
Handmaid's tale got me screaming at the tv!!

A fellow pregnant mama in my front yard.
Do you cuss in front of your kids?
Bored.. nothing to watch on tv whats everyone doing..??
im deff making tv an occasional thing for my son. no phones, no tablets just toys books and flash cards etc. i told my bf im doing an experiment to prove to him how smarter a kid is without all the electronic entertainment. i csnt stand the parents that makes their kids watch tv and play on tablets all day. so much more out their.
