I was sent home even though I was having major contractions 😔. I denied the shot to stop labor because of the effects I got last time. So I was told my son will have a breathing problem. Now my fiancé wants me home with my mom to deliver. Today my contractions aren't as bad but they're still there. I'm so confused 😢
@aheggs3, sometimes the filter from brain to mouth doesn't work well. Don't over think. It's your baby and you have to make your own decision. With one of my kids I was having tons of contractions. The doctor put me on a medicine that is used to treat seizures. After reading on it I decided the side effects weren't worth it to me. People didn't agree with me but in the end I had to do what I thought was best for my son. He was born at 39 weeks. Trust yourself and everything will work out just fine.
I was just trying to figure out why the lady wanted to say something so hateful but it's okay. I can't return until my water breaks anyways @amandafikes
@amandafikes, that's really good to know considering my baby is measuring large for gestation as diabetics babies usually do.
One more thing, my doctor said once I hit 34 weeks the baby has a 90% chance of coming home with me. At 36 weeks it goes up to 95% and at 38 weeks 99% of babies go home with mommy.
@sarahjeann98 and @aheggs3, my son was born at 35 weeks and 5 days. He came home 25 hours after having him. My sister had gestational diabetes and her daughter was born at 36 weeks 2 days and came home 24 hours later. Babies all develop at different rates so there is no way of knowing if the baby will need to go to the NICU.
I don't think I can last. I think I would even consider a c-section 😢 @sarahjeann98
@aheggs3, It's getting really annoying they basically told me that I get to be miserable until 39 weeks unless my water breaks or I make progress. I get it 37 weeks is full term and baby is guaranteed NICU time before that but I'm a type one diabetic so my baby is huge and it's beginning to cause blood sugar problems. I want my baby to be healthy and full term but 5 weeks of consistent contractions is going to be miserable.
@aheggs3, i got the terbutaline shot a week ago and i felt like i was having a heart attack and on drugs the whole time. I was 32 weeks at the time and have been back in twice since then for contractions three minutes apart the last time they checked me and sent me home telling me the contractions need to be stronger to do anything before they'd keep me.
I had my son at 36w3d and he's perfectly fine. we brought him home 24 hours after he was born.
Oh God I saw the side effects, I see why you denied it! But you are almost done and Im sure your baby will do fine!
@aheggs3, I know every one is different just curious as to what shot you denied
@emmajeremy2627, Can you copy a link of the side effects of the meds to stop or slow down labor? I got the steroid and the shot/meds to slow down labor, 2 almost 3 weeks ago because my water broke at 31 weeks and my babies have been doing great but I do have to have a c section on Monday cause I cant go any more with my water being broken for this long. But I was not aware of the side affect on the baby when they give it to you
I've tried warm baths, showers, drink water, laying on my side .... None of it really helps. Like now it's bothering me but I can't go back until my water breaks @emmajeremy2627
@mom_2_3_princesses96, everyone is different but trust me it's not magnesium.
if hes ready let him come. don't let the doctors talk you into something you dont want its your baby your body not the doctors.
i had a few pre labor (i thought) so i went to l&d and before i went i said if i was in labor i would deny the shot because of the horrible side effects like you they also really scared me reading it. luckily i didnt go preterm like with my daughter. but your almost there momma hang in there if contractions get too bad try a warm bath:) @aheggs3
Thats why I think you denied the magnesium cause thats what helps stop labor but you are technically almost full term. Im sure they told you just to make you aware that its possible for him to a little bit of trouble breathing on his own. He'll probably be fine, your almost done! Good luck! @emmajeremy2627 You are blessed your daughter had no breathing issues, I went down to the nicu and there were so many 35 weekers on breathing tubes it broke my heart!! Congrats on healthy babies!! 💜
It's not a shot to help his lungs. But the last time I got the shot, my baby didn't move until late the next day. I read up on it and it says the shot have sign effect on the baby that can't be treated until after birth. Plus I was shaking really bad, my heart felt like it was going to jump out my chest, I started sweating really bad, and I was scared. @mom_2_3_princesses96
your full term monday my baby was born exactly at 37 weeks and was just fine. my daughter (not every preemie) but she was born at 35 +4 and luckily had no breathing problems.
i would have denied the shot too, to stop labor.
The steroid shot will help your babies lungs develop I got it and my twins will be delivered at 34 weeks and there lungs will be developed, the magnesium is what helps "stop" or slow down labor. I hated the affects of the mag but honestly I wouldn't have made any other decision. If I wouldn't have taken it, I would have had 31 weekers and they would have been in the nicu for months. But You are 36 weeks and you'll be full term next week but you should reconsider... Ive seen way a lot of babies in the nicu for the past 2 almost 3 weeks Ive been admitted and its devastating seeing babies with breathing tubes.
From what the nurse said. But I'll be full term Monday. I've been to the ER several times in the last month for contractions. They just want me to wait until I'm 40 weeks @ktwins188
so you son gonna have breathing problems because u didn't want t the shots??? that's sad....
Good morning ladies. Sorry I been ignoring yall but I have been so miserable the past days I'M STILL PREGNANT my contractions would be strong for hours and it looked like I was gonna have a baby then everything just stopped so I got sent home. they said I have to wait till my appointment Wednesday so I can talk to my doctor about the next step. I HATE THIS 😢😢😩

Ladies I would like to introduce my babygirl. Came to the hospital and was having full blown contractions and doctor decided to operate me. My delivery was so painful I felt everything.

So threw up the brew but still having some contractions. I suppose it will help dilation.
Sigh so I guess my appointment for Friday to get monitoring is still on .
I hope my fluids stay consistent.

I don’t think we would have been able to move if I didn’t have my stay at home job, we would still be in a neighborhood with our house getting broken into. I’m so thankful and blessed to have found a legit home job so my kids don’t have to go to day care, counting my blessings daily
Vaginal labor is so easy I would rather take the contractions any day than to have to have a c section
@amandafikes, @aheggs3 some of the meds they prescribe to stop contractions have some seriously negative side effects that don't even seem remotely worth it
