Ok need help.. my son nurses for over an hour and then starts rooting like crazy and chewing on his fingers when I take him off to burp him. I don't understand how he's nursing for soo long but not getting full. also we have a 3rd apt weight check because he isn't gaining. I'm so ready to say screw breastfeeding.
I totally know how you feel. People told me that too and it just made me feel awful that I couldn't feed my kid the way God had intended. It's definitely not for everyone, sadly. But there are ways to increase your supply that work for a lot of people. There fenugreek supplements, mothers milk tea, oatmeal, non-alcoholic beer. The list goes on lol. So if you want to try those options before giving up, there's still hope. But don't feel bad if doesn't work. Sometimes our bodies just don't cooperate with us. It's definitely not from lack of trying!
@evococa, people keep telling me that everyone can nurse but I really don't think I'm making enough. and I'm exhausted and taking care of a 4 year old I really don't have time to feed him for this long and often
You should see if your hospital has a nursing clinic. They can see how much milk he's transferring. I had that problem with my son. He would be on the boob for an hour and still be hungry. I just wasn't producing enough. We had to supplement with formula and sadly my supply dried up by the time he was 3 months no matter what I tried (and I tried just about everything).
I don't feel full ever anymore. I don't think I'm making enough. I nurse him every 2-3 hours and try to pump once a day for stimulation but I'm not getting much @mommytobe607
they also have vitamins and there's some other natural things you can take to help keep your supply. @jamielynn07
