My birth plan is a non med plan. I do not want the epidural. And with it being my first everyone keeps telling me I'll get it... I know I won't because Iv heard so much horrible things about the epidural so I'll probably do other pain meds if it comes down to it but not that! Can someone tell me how to survive the natural birth? Because I'm also thinking water birth... Need help and heads up! Lol

@alexispainter, look and see if there are doulas in your area. They help with all kinds of labor, but most specialize in natural child birth. They will coach you through it.

Thank you @thompsonofficial and yes I'm using that comment as motivation too! Because I know I'll prove everyone wrong! And what else Iv heard if you go natural is that you heal faster then getting the epidural! @babybue16

I plan on going natural w/o meds too. I've heard the "you'll probably change your mind and get an epidural!" comment. I'm just using it as motivation to go through with no meds to prove those people wrong. My mom had 4 kids with no meds and said it was fine and she had no problem handling the pain. My hospital doesn't do water births but I will have a laboring tub in my room to labor in. I heard it helps ease the pain to labor in water so I'm definitely going to try it. Good luck to you! You can do it! :)

That's amazing! I hope I'm as strong as you! @themommaoffour and yes I know @briannedenay but if I don't do water birth I'll just get in a good hot shower and sit there and let the water do its thing till they tell me to go back to the bed that it's time

It really all depends on you personally with the epidural. I'm such a baby when it comes to pain so I knew from the get go I was getting it. I'm glad I did but it's of course not for everyone. You won't know if it's for you or not until you do actually give birth. Lol

Not all hospitals will do a water birth. So if that's something you want you'll need to make sure your hospital does it.

you're very welcome @alexispainter not getting the epidural with my third was the best decision I've ever made. I was able to focus more on what I was doing and I could tell when I needed to push without the doctor telling me.

You can get a med through your iv the takes the edge off the contractions but you still feel everything. The best thing I've ever read about wanting a natural birth is from a friends grandma. She said that as women our bodies are made for carrying children and giving birth. and as for giving birth without pain meds it's a completely acceptable thing for you to want pain meds. there are other options such as iv pain meds you don't need to get the epidural. The iv pain meds take the edge off contractions so you can move around and you feel everything but pain

Thank you ladies! @ashsloan @elizabeth1617 @jasminemaye And @bjeff I watch natural birth all the time and water birth! And yes our bodies were made for it! So I'm going to let my body do its thing! Because it's better for your baby to be ready and your body to be ready at the same time!

just be mentally prepared. be prepared for it to hurt but also know that when the lain gets its absolute worst the end is near. transition is the most painful part but it's almost over at that point.

Water helps and having a clear head helps. Of course it hurts a whole lot but if you clear your mind and focus purely on breathing through contractions and getting the baby down and out it helps take the pain of it off of your mind.

Just block out all of the negative comments and nay sayers!!! Our bodies were made to give birth and you got this momma!!

I've been practicing hypnobirthing and using positive affirmations..I find it also helps watching positive birth stories on YouTube or reading Ina May's book.
