So I'm on a pumping schedule (my baby can't latch to me because my nipples are to small. 36DDD and my nipples are to small. So frustrating!!) and doing 10 minutes every 3 hours and getting about 3 oz total each time. Is that good? I don't see my lactation person for a few days. I'm on Reglan, Fenugreek, 5oz of dark beer (this is Utah so there's hardly any alcohol in it) and Milk Maid Tea.

@myliltadpole1116, my doctor has me on bed rest another week. and then 8 weeks more then likely before I'm at full capacity.

@jana.bear, how long do they expect your recovery to be ? That's great that you were able to get home health to come in. As you get better it'll get easier and you'll find your comfort for the two of you:) but don't push so hard that you aren't taking proper care of yourself too . Lol as I'm sure u know it's not worth it. I know that traumatic labor and delivery can affect the baby's ability to nurse just as it affects our healing. Just stay hydrated and keep doing what ur doing❤️

@myliltadpole1116, I'd be happy to deal with the pain except I'm still technically supposed to be in the hospital. I threatened to walk out so I'm on home healthcare. I can't really stay up all night like someone who had a healthy vaginal birth (I've tried and ended up in the ER). I have to do what's best for baby and that means trying to heal and pumping what I can for him. I wanted to breastfeed more then anything in the world but I will probably end up pumping for 6 months.

@jana.bear, it's gonna probably hurt for a while Hun. I had blisters until maybe a month in and he just magically perfected his latch one day and it stopped hurting. No matter what they stay on ur boob for hours and will cry like there's not enough. It seems like that's just the way it is. He's learning something brand new as are you. I used to massage my breasts and get my let down started before I would nurse otherwise there would have been no way . It hurts less is u use just a couple drops of expressed milk on the areola and I'd even take my finger and put a drop on Lucas's upper lip to give him a taste. It helped both of us start off right and focus. But it's not easy and your making plenty. Don't worry about that part. Even if u get the latch right it'll seem like it won't be enough for him until it calms down in a few weeks.

He might be having a growing sport right now my son did this he was eating like crazy every 2-3 hours he has slowed down now your lactation consulting will help you out they truly are amazing and really make you feel great! try this pump 1oz feed it to your son then once you and him are feeling clam and relax try coaching him to latch onto you I know how you feel I'm pumping been going on 2 months now I have supplement also when I want to store my milk for the future. my son will latch only for 1 min because he wants to eat quickly wants a faster flow nipple instead of working for it 😞 keep it up hon your doing great it will all fall into a routine and won't be as bad in a few weeks! But I have notice the days I eat certain things and drink certain things I def pump more I'm here if you need someone to keep you motivated! I know there's been days I'm just like "I can't do this anymore!" Pumping is so exhausting so be sure you treat yourself the end of the night weather that be a nice warm bath or a bowl of ice cream

@ab, My insurance paid for a really nice Medela pump. I don't qualify for WIC. But I have great insurance. I have a lactation consultant whose helping me but I still feel uneasy. My week old eats 2-3oz every 2 hours. He would probably eat more too... So my supply wouldn't even come close to keeping him happy. 😥 The pediatrician said he's just a big guy and has a big appetite.

@myliltadpole1116, I can get him somewhat on there but it hurts so bad and he has a hard time keeping my nipple in his mouth and gets frustrated and pissed and we both end up in tears. I hope the LC can help with that.

@jana.bear, lol don't worry , I drink one or two after I've put Lucas down for the night. I just know I used to think the alcohol helped somehow, when it actually counters it.. Girl if your making milk After your body went through something so stressful, your doing amazing! I didn't have an emergency c section but we got close to it . Lactation should be able to help u , there's so many different ways to teach our lo to latch .. And it's exhausting/painful but it's so worth it . I hope everything goes well for you :)

@myliltadpole1116, I'm to lazy to buy the brewers yeast at the moment, though I may get some off Amazon for smoothies. And honestly I enjoy having a little beer. lol I think I'm going to be okay I just don't know what's normal and what isnt. I literally didn't have anything until I started my routine. I had a super traumatic birth and had to have multiple blood transfusions.

I know it's going to be hard to believe this but your body will respond as long as u keep up the pumping schedule 24/7. Since u can't nurse at the moment ur doing everything possible lol. Non-alcoholic beers may help more since there'sonly trace amounts of alcohol. It's the yeast that helps supply ..remember lots of water too. You have to stay hydrated in order to make milk.(makes sense, right?) .3oz is great, ur body won't regulate until ur at least 6 weeks and then you'll probably freak out again because it feels like ur supply stops but it's just better regulation lol.@jana.bear

Any helpful advice for me to help ease the pain? I'm pregnant and still breastfeeding my 19 month old, but I cry every time because my nipples are hurting so badly, and my daughter wants to be on them 24/7.
