if you breastfeed would they still give you formula for the baby while on wic? what if you partially breastfeed? shouldn't they give you formula similar to breast milk?
but....if you are breastfeeding you get a lot more food. Also you can change it up as you go along. Start out breastfeeding with a breastfeeding package, no formula, more food for you. If you need to supplement go to the the partial breastfeeding package. I believe it's 4 cans a month or atleast that's what it was for me and a little less food for you. Full formula is 8 cans a month. You may not need formula. Most women's supply issues are all in their heads. As long as baby has a good amount of wet and dirty diapers and is gaining weight there's no need to introduce formula.
i didn't tell them I was breastfeeding even though I plan too but my sister told me I should tell them partially so they can provide formula similar to breastmilk......????? @kaydencemuva
Don't tell them your going or thinking about breastfeeding they are going to try to give you like 1 or 2 cans and say if your baby doesn't latch they will try to make you keep trying and your going to end up spending money on your baby milk just tell them your not going to breastfeed just in case so they can give you the max
if you breastfeed but suppliment they will provide you with formula just not a full amount like if you were strictly formula feeding. As for the formula, they only give what they have a contract with. my wic office offers Similac
I just know where I live they give you less cans and give you a hard time switching packages I definitely am for breastfeeding I just witness a friend of mine that wasn't able to produce enough milk and she had to stop and give her baby formula it wasn't easy for her to switch and she end up buying milk out of pocket but that may not be your case and most likely they give you one brand the only time I've seen them give a different brand was if they baby was allergic and had bad acid reflex from the milk that they switched it
