ugh as much as i want to breastfeed i dont think it will be able to happen i cant afford a pump my bf barley gives me…

@jujulove13, I didn't either, but when I went back after I had the baby, your supposed to call when it's born and they make u an appointment to get the babies wic, and they'll talk to you and weigh the baby and stuff, and they will ask you if u plan to breastfeed and should give u a nursing bra and a hand pump

some people's milk doesn't even come in until 5 days pp so don't get discouraged if it takes a while. Also speak with the lactation consultant at your hospital, they're there to help you! I've bought myself the mother's milk tea from Kroger and it is patiently waiting I'm my pantry for when the time comes to use it. I think I paid 4$ for a box, this will be my first time using it so I hope it works as good as I hear. The most important thing, if it means that much to you is that you try your best and if it doesn't work out for you, don't get down on yourself! Lots of mothers formula feed and looking at their children standing next to a breastfed child, you'd never know the difference. 😊

@jujulove13, idk of they have wic where u are, but of you tell your wic person you are going to breast feed, I believe they will give u a new hand held manual pump and a nursing bra.

if u are able to get a pump, the manual one..to me, is the best. there like 30 at Wal-Mart. I could get more milk in less time out of the manual one. but you don't have to have one. I tried to pump, but my daughter won't take a bottle. so I just breast feed her straight from the tap lol the more frequently you nurse, the more milk you will produce. there's also some kind of herbal tea called mother's milk , I believe that's supposed to help milk supply. I have really tiny boobs and was scared I wouldn't have enough milk, but we been going solid for 3 months now. your body knows what your baby needs

ive been drinking things my grandma has told me about to get milk. even got the mothers milk tea so im gunna keep her on the boob as much as she needs @arivera64

That's one of the issues moms face....unless you are exclusively pumping you will not get a lot from the pump. The pump cannot get nearly as much milk out as the suction from your babys mouth. It's not a good method of determining your supply. Some moms DO get lots of milk pumping, however.....some moms like myself end up with oversupply. Pumping more than 2 to 5 oz per session is outside of the average range!

I nursed my first baby 13 months and am nursing my 3 month old. I have plenty of milk and I NEVER pump. You don't have to have a pump to successfully breastfeed:) women have been feeding their babies without pumps for thousands of years. You can do it!!

with my son i got so upset because he would get so fussy he wanted more milk and none would come out i would pump and couldnt even get a oz not even close this time i will try sooooooo hard to be patient and not give up @arivera64

You're welcome. Try not to stress about it now. At the end of the day, a fed baby is a healthy baby no matter formula or breast. But if you want to breastfeed, you have to believe it and put your best effort forward. You have to be willing to be patient with yourself and your baby. To trust yourself and your body. Yes, some women cannot produce enough milk. But in actuality, that percentage of women is very minute. Most women produce more than enough milk but get very discouraged because of many different things like how much they can pump out (which is NOT a good indicator of how much you're producing), the babys weight, baby wanting to feed constantly (which usually means a growth spurt rather than they aren't getting enough milk)......Trust yourself!

If you qualify for wic, you can get a pump. If you get formula, the amount they give you sometimes isn't enough and you will likely still end up buying some formula out of pocket. The amount of money you would spend on formula would eventually outweigh the amount you would spend on a pump in the end. You can buy a tommee tippee pump system that comes with pump, bottle warmer, and storage equiptment for just $99. After you have the baby, if you need tips for milk supply etc feel free to msg me.

I just had my WIC appt last week and discussed the advantages and disadvantages of breastfeeding. Anyway I wasn't planning on breastfeeding as I am very thin and have fast metabolism as is i felt like id end up like a stick. Anyway with my first I wasn't able to breastfeed as I wasn't able to produce milk. I ask of any possibilities of how to produce milk this time around (as I plan on breastfeeding at least the 1st month) She said nipples stimulation will help and continue to keep the baby on your breasts (once she is born) this a way of telling your breasts to produce more milk. :) hope this helps
