Opinions? WARNING this turns into a HUGE fight in Facebook everytime.

Topic: Introducing baby food and cereals

I'm a ftm and I've read a heard from other moms DON'T do it until at least 6 months old. The reflexes they need to eat aren't fully formed, it can mess up their sensitive tummys, it can cause food allergies later in life, ect. I can think of at least 4 moms (ftms) who under doctors orders started their babies on food around 4 months (also juice and water). It's hard for me to even voice my opinion because I'm "not a mom yet". Just an observation of mine, but all of those babies were bottle fed. I feel as though if they were breast fed they'd still be on BM and BM only.. Personally I wouldn't start food until 6 months even if the doctor recommended it, I'd get another opinion and I'd do what's best for my baby. But with that being said I'd never go and tell another mom she's stupid and doesn't care about her kid, or her kids future. PETTY.
When did you start feeding your baby foods that weren't just milk?

Yea my Dr was that person to tell me that I was wrong for giving her breastmilk when she was underweight I needed to give her formula and cereal. She was born 5lbs, I didn't expect that to change over night. I ultimately breastfed my daughter until she was 13 months old but, she never had formula and only had cereal maybe 3x but remained perfectly healthy. But if ever for a second I felt that my baby needed the cereal or anything I definitely would have given it to her.

@quea, I think it's awesome you stayed just breastfeeding til 6 months, I hope I can produce enough to keep my baby healthy. Your daughter is adorable and looks like a healthy happy baby to me! I just can't believe other moms will straight up tell someone they don't care about their child because they decided to do what was best for them. I didn't know that breast fed babies don't usually exceed 5 oz. good to know.
@ktwins188 some girl said if you feed your kid cereal in the formula you're a cheap bitch trying to stretch the formula further and don't care that it's empty calories and you're just making your kid obese. Wtf? I've never been so angry with the way women are treating eachother! if my doctor says it's okay and will help my baby who are you to judge? Some people need help! it's good to hear your twins are healthy too! usually you hear about them being small and dealing with weight issues for the first year.

It was something our old pediatrician wanted to try before starting him on medicine! Sometimes people just don't know the whole story @princessalaynasmommy

@vb95, that's why another friend of mine added cereal, it was the best thing to do for her baby. I hate that people get so judgemental and caddy

Elliot had cereal in his bottle at around 2 months old, only because his reflux was so bad and it made the formula thicker so he could keep it down better. He got prune juice a few times as well for his constipation. I wouldn't recommend the prune juice based on how hard it is on their little tummies. After him getting prune juice on and off, I stopped it because I didn't like that he needed juice to make him poop. So we started tummy massages, warm washcloths on his belly, bicycle exercises to get things moving in there. Elliot started cereals at 4 months, per doctors recommendations to help him gain more weight and to also help keep his formula down. My advice if you want to start solids at 4 months do it, it's completely your choice, I wouldn't start fruits or veggies until 6 months but that's just me. People will always have their opinions.
