Has any momma's used or is currently using a midwife? If so, how do you like the experience?
We met in person for over 2 hours before we hired her (our doula) and we had an instant connection. My husband and I knew from the start that we wanted a natural birth so we definitely wanted a doula there for support!
Well I meet with the midwife at my OBGYN when I go and we talk about literally anything I have questions about. She's all about women knowing their rights and knowing that they are allowed to have a choice in what they want during their labor and delivery! As for my doula, we talk over the phone every time I have a doctors appointment so I can fill her in on how everything's progressing. We will then meet at 36 weeks to discuss my birth plan and go over some exercises for delivery and what not and then she'll be on call from there and with me during my entire labor, delivery and afterwards for lactation help!
@agastinamarie, do you talk to her about a lot of things? What are your appointments usually like?
I have a midwife at my OBGYN office and she is phenomenal! CNM's (certified nurses midwives) are usually covered by insurance which is nice too. My midwife is so informative and so empowering! I also have a doula which I would highly recommend if you want a natural birth!! They're are there every step of the way to support and coach you through it. I love my doula!
I got lucky. The doctor that delivered my baby was amazing! He was calm and super funny and supportive but that's not always how it goes
I've met one midwife that I really don't like. But the rest that I've seen are absolutely AMAZING. Best experience I've had. I had an obgyn deliver my older 3 children.
@bwitmer, going to be honest you probably won't get the support you need. Majority of the time your doctor isn't even the one that delivers the baby. Especially going natural you're going to need someone there that knows the ropes and all the medical jumbo to back you when it comes time to have the baby!
Ladies I don't feel like my doctors spend enough time talking to me about what's going on. I always feel rushed. I am planning on doing a natural birth and I feel like I won't get the support that I need. @ayyeblackberry__ @jessica0830
I love my midwife I feel it's better then a obgyn experience more personal and I never feel rushed during appointments
My doctors office has a midwife and a medical doctor, and I see both. The midwife is a lot more friendly in my opinion. Whenever I meet with her she does more than my doctor. She measures the baby, checks my cervix, and I just have an all around better time with her. Could be that's she's just a nicer lady though.
They are an AMAZING support system. I wish I used one this time around! You have much more of a personal experience with them!

First off, Mom.Life has an absolute zero tolerance policy for child abuse and those who would prey on children. We strive to ...
