Are newborns not meant to wear sunscreen under six months in case they put it in their mouth??

i dont think thats the reason i think its because they are meant to be kept shaded all the time xx

Thanks of course my little girl will be kept shaded but just was wanting max protection for her

She'll be born in the summer when it's hot it gets hot down here

im not saying she wont be shaded lol. i just think thats the reason they dont need sunscreen hun

You can get sun cream that is suitable for newborns :) xx

My one says it is suitable but my friend commented and said I shouldn't put it on her and keep her in the shade which I was planning to do :) but don't want the sun getting to her xxx if I have to take her out of her pram to feed her for example. Even though she will have a hat on and I will avoid taking her out in midday. Xx

i have just read doctors didnt used to recomment it but now they advise to patch test before u use it and to avoid sun at certain time. like youve said itd be hard if baby needed feeding hun xx

My little girl could arrive in June/July time and it gets so warm down here x

They're skin is sensitive but obviously just test it first and keep shaded. my son is 2 and I still keep him as shaded as possible. x

I think its because SPF is bad for their (and even adult) skin. Apparently there are different kinds if SPF too, the rubbish ones don't let you tan (not that a baby would tan anyway, they don't have much mature melanin in their skin), and the better ones would also (or only) have a different substance that protects from DNA damage better. I really need to research this lol :) let me know if you find out the answer!!! I am really interested too!

Indirect sun is good for them :) They need vitamin D x
