Went to the doctor's Friday and the doctor says they want to induce me early because the baby is measuring small. I'll be 38 weeks on Thursday and she said she doesn't want me having a late term baby. So when I go back I'm going to ask why exactly they think it may be necessary to induce and I'm going to request an ultrasound before I decide on what is the best option for the baby. You ladies have any experience with doctors wanting to induce before 40 weeks for a small baby?

Thank you. My first was 8lbs 11oz and my twins were 6lbs 11oz and 6lbs 12oz... So hearing she is measuring small is definitely concerning and not something I expected to hear at all. So since they want to discuss it further on Thursday I want to make sure I'm well informed and make the right decision for her.

Yes. Their main concern is that the baby can gain more weight outside than inside so it'll be more beneficial to the child to be born earlier and get all that he or she needs to get back on track and gain weight. I got lucky and my water broke on its on but if it didn't I had an induction date set so they could take my daughter out. Even after she was born I had to take her to her ped once a week to make sure she was gaining
