How necessary is a baby monitor?
We've been debating about getting one but we're not sure. Because our baby will be sleeping with us ( in his own crib but in the same room as us) and I don't think I'd be okay with leaving him alone when he takes naps.

I have one for when hes sleeping and i need to go to the bathroom or something and no one is home but I've used it maybe once or twice.

heck no. when he sleeps that's your time to make up for your sleep.. lol. from babysitting I learned that one the hard way.. lol.

It really isn't that necessary unless you have like a huge ol mansion with like 87 rooms lol. Just while the baby sleeps every once in awhile check on the baby and adjust as necessary. I never used one with my son cuz I'd rather not spend a bunch of money on a monitor or go to a second hand store and get a used one. They're way cheaper and just as effective

Do whatever works for you! We are getting The Nest monitor because we can view from our phones at anytime from anywhere in the world. Will be useful if we have a nanny or babysitter especially. And if we are out of town.

its not necessary but its helpful i use it when I am in the kitchen doing the dishes or cooking or if I decide to take a quick shower. I just got a cheap one from Burlington.
