6 months is ideal to start purees. Wait until your baby can hold their head up, shows interest in food, and can sit up on its own. Start with one thing and only feed them that one food for 3 days (to see if they have a reaction) and then go onto the next.
I didn't I did baby lead weaning at 6 months... 4-5 months is the average age that mommas usually start giving their babies purees... if your baby can hold his/her head up well you can start giving them food at that age.... just make sure only to give them one thing at a time so you can make sure their is not allergic reaction and if there is you know what it is giving them the reaction... so try carrots once a day for a couple days- if there is not reaction you can introduce something else... also try not to give them fruits at first because they might refuse veggies if fruits are introduced first.
your toddler should be getting table food not baby food.... depending on your baby and their ped. you can start giving them stage one at 4-5 months depending on head control and tongue reflex.
