I need some advice.. I have been nursing and supplementing until my milk came in.. well I'm definitely engorged and ready and we just had our first feed without supplementing. but I'm so uncomfortable. I tried a hand pump and it's so painful.. I have flat nipples and have to use a shield and it's so difficult. I'm just so sore. any advice?

The first 2 weeks I thought my boobs were going to explode because they were overproducing. Definitely use heat and massage them and try to pump even if it's painful that's the only way it will feel better. You can also take advil and Tylenol to help with the pain

it hurt me for about 2 weeks and I didn't think my daughter was latching either but just make sure his mouth is over your whole areola not just your nipple

also if you just wanna breastfeed I wouldn't supplement for the first month because your body will get confused and make less then he eats

That's great news @mrs.cravens do you think he's latching correctly if it's uncomfortable? I just hate that shield but he can't latch without it

try taking a warm shower and massage them until you can get them soft enough to hand express or maybe a warm wash cloth

your body will adjust to what your baby eats. your breast will stay like that for a few days and then eventually they stop becoming engorged.
