if newborn doesn't latch on, what do they eat for the day ?!? I asked the nurse and she said "nothing, we just keep trying to latch her on or pump" .. but what if I have very little colustrum when I pump?! I'm stressed.
it takes a few days for the real milk to come in, until then, newborns stomach is the size of a marble. they only need a tiny amount to fill them up. you can tell by the diapers if they're getting enough (:
Babies have a 24 hour food reserve and even after the 24hrs their tummies are really tiny so they don't eat much. As far as not making a lot of colostrum that's fine. Only time to worry is when your milk comes in and you aren't producing enough. The amount of colostrum doesn't dictate how much milk you'll make.
if your trying to exclusively breastfeed keep pumping and trying to latch your baby. but if you aren't you can ask for formula. they always try and talk you out of it. but they give it to you.
Their stomachs are so small so if you're getting a little bit out and nursing very frequently it will be enough for baby and will help your body produce more. Now, If baby loses more than the normal amount than expected they may ask that you supplement with formula, and if you do that, make sure you're able to pump so your body still knows you need the milk to be produced since milk is a supply and demand thing.
My son wouldn't latch either but he was preemie and had to be in the nicu but I wasn't producing enough so I gave in and let them feed him formula and mix it with what I pumped and brought to him cause I didn't want him going without. Hopefully your supply comes in good unlike me. mine still hasn't and my son is almost 3 months.
Ladies I called my insurance about breast pump and they said with their insurance in order to get a pump I get a prescription from doctor then I call 3 different numbers to see what my insurance covers but the only thing is I have to wait til baby is born to call and get pump so I want to at least buy a hand pump which do you ladies recommend for hand pump and when I can get a pump from insurance please n thank you 💖💖
Breast pump covered by insurance
I've already done what I needed to find out what type of pump I get covered through insurance. It turns out, with my insurance, I can't even get my pump shipped to me until I call them with all the birth details of my baby. So...wth am I supposed to do having a baby and no pump?! I plan to pump exclusively and this REALLY throws a wrench in my plans.
Why won't my daughter latch i am sick of pumping :(
Yesterday I went out with my boyfriend went to watch a movie, me and him don't live together yet. but point is yesterday when he was dropping me off his like sleep over at my house witch the mom and dad lives. I said no,
his response was why is everyone deciding or making choices for you and their going to do the same with the baby, when I know that's not true. what he thinks is that my mom tells me not to sleep over. So he left all mad. and I felt in my heart that he went on and cheated on me...
What is the best breast pump to buy? Cause I was gonna get one from wic but they won't give me one unless she doesn't latch on
I'd just keep trying to latch like the nurse said
