I've been taking care of my father in laws cat for two years now. he's not always bad. since we've moved to a new apartment, he's been acting out. He won't cover his poop in the litter box. so I'm constantly cleaning it, and trying to keep his area clean. cause the smell drives me insane. since I've been pregnant he's been acting funny then acting out more. he has pooped a couple times on the floor. and peed at both ends of my living room. This cat is not usually like this but it's driving me crazy. I don't like to smell it or see it. He's peed around my baby's stuff, so I gotta re wash everything because cat pee is so damn strong it makes everything stink. I've been wanting my father in law to take this cat back for awhile now. but no hubby won't do it or ask him. he feels obligated to keep the thing. so I'm stuck with it. and I'm not so heartless to throw him out. I rather him go to a nice home. he doesn't have claws so he cannot be outside past the porch. Maybe he's like this just because I'm pregnant. moving soon, so I'll get a doggy door for the garage, so he can use his litter box out there. I really hope his attitude changes about me, and he stops peeing and crapping on my floor after having the babies. I know it's all a huge change for him. But I will not put up with cat piss. I've cleaned the areas and the smell still won't go away.
@atw2016, hopefully. hopefully my hubby will do something about it. or continue to hear me bitch. I'm having him clean it now, and apparently it's a huge problem. it's been like this for 3 days and I couldn't get him to do anything about it.
@shannaa24 yeah I would feel bad just getting rid of it. hopefully it can go to a good home.
@mommyof5kayla, yea I know the concerns. it rarly happens. my doctor told me it's fine as long as I use gloves and my cat doesn't go outside. not my first roller coaster with a cat or pregnancy.
@atw2016, thankfully he just told me we can get rid of the cat. I just hope his dad will take the cat. whatever he does with him from there it's fine and out of my hands. I personally couldn't just get rid of him. I have too much of a heart and would worry about him all the time.
They say not to mess with cat poop or pee while pregnant it's not just wearing gloves it's the smells that come from it it's bad for the baby someone else needs to pick it up
@shannaa24 oh okay. I was just checking plus I feel like it would be a lot to deal with
@atw2016, usually if the cat goes outside. wearing gloves is fine. everythings been fine with it both pregnantcies. if I don't clean it nobody else will. my hubby just keeps covering the stuff in the litter box and making a mess on the floor. I'm at home working all day. I cant deal with it, so I clean it up. He's so exhausted when he gets home, there's really no way I can rest much.
@bluedolphin77, I had a different cat when my son was born. he climbed on everything and touched everything but never once peed on anything. I read that cats rub, scratch, and sometimes urinate on everything in the home to mark their territory. just like rubbing on us they leave their cent to keep other cats away. I read several comments about cats peeing all over babies clothes, cribs, basinets, and other baby belongings. It's one thing if he rubs on the stuff, but if he pees on their stuff I'm gonna be so mad. my husbands gonna get an ear full. I really don't know if it's healthy to even use the baby stuff again after its been peed on. there's no way I can even deal with that smell. I've been telling my husband to talk to his dad for months about the cat. maybe he'll do it this time around.
