I was induced twice, once at 37 weeks, and the next time at 38 weeks. It can be done, and without medical reason. Example, my husband was in Iraq and he planned to come home for the birth. Every doc is different! Mine was an old school by the books geezer! And he did it!

also a lot if insurance companies won't cover being induced before 39 weeks unless medically necessary. My OB couldn't even do my c-section before 39 weeks because of insurance not covering unless I go into labor or there is something really wrong

Was told by my doctor they can not legally induce before 39 weeks unless absolutely medically necessary otherwise they could get sued. Just depends when your doctor would let you. Mine would let you go to 42 weeks but I'm asking to be induced at 39 because she said she would do it.

it depends on your doctor, but none will induce before week 39 unless needed for medical reasons

@camrynnsmommy I'm sure it's not that they don't want to go full term, the only way you can be induced before 39 is a medical issue.
