2 sacs is twins but with only one having a baby; he saying you will probably miscarry the sac without the baby

In the beggining of my pregnancy I only had one sac at 6 weeks. I went back at 8 weeks and there was two babies 😄 I am now 31 weeks with identical twin boys 💙💙

Don't worry too much right now. When I had a sono at about 5 weeks we only seen one baby as well. Came back at almost 9 weeks and seen both of my little peanuts. Just wait a little bit, that early in pregnancy it's hard to tell too much of anything.

@twins0my, I have mo/di twins too but if they saw 2 clear sacs then she would be having fraternal. They probably didn't see your other baby because he was hiding behind his brother but he was always there. The split of the egg has to happen within 2 weeks

@boenischpartyof5, so it really might be twins

@debbiecakez22, if there was 2 clear distinct sacs then you would be having fraternal twins but I honestly don't know any thing as far as another baby still having time to form since that process happens pretty early on. I do know that as far as twins one baby can absorb the other but still leave the empty sac. Identical twins are either in the same sac (mo/mo) or 2 sacs (mo/di) but the membrane is extremely thin and usually can't be seen early on so you're treated as a mo/mo pregnancy (which is very rare) until that membrane is found

@debbiecakez22, the girls above are having identical twins so it's common that they only see 1 baby at their first ultrasound since the second baby could be hiding. Their second baby didn't form late because it was always there since it came from the same egg

@debbiecakez22, with two sacs yes. As @boenischpartyof5 stated mine are identical and split early on so one may have been behind to where they could not see. Did they schedule another ultrasound within a week or two to check again? With two sacs both babies may be there. In the beginning of my pregnancy they didn't see anything a little over 5 weeks. At exactly 6 weeks they, saw one sac. Then again at 8 weeks they saw two sacs two heartbeats 😊

Yep. It still could be. And what @boenischpartyof5 is saying is right. Identical twins are different in that sense. And when are you rescheduled for another sonogram?

I didn't see my other twin until almost 9 weeks but everyone's different. Some women go longer without seeing the other one. You can make an appointment around that time and see what they say. Fraternal twins may be easier to see, my boys were really close to each other and one was kinda hidden at that time. If yours are in different sacs it may not be as difficult to see. This is one of the sonograms from that appointment so you'll have an idea of what I mean and how they looked at that time.
