Just saw on channel 6 news that mothers have to put the father on the birth certificate or the birth…

it's because you have to get child support at the same time.

I don't feel it's right.... what if a woman is raped? she may not know his name and I'm pretty sure she doesn't want anything from him

That's stupid . What does his name have to do with me getting the assistance I need for me or my child ? Smh

What makes since is that you can't go blaming anyone that they are the father and get support from them. But what doesn't make sense is if you aren't able to do so. Now you're being punished for something out of your control.

I don't understand it all. it's like their trying to control mothers now. It should always be the mothers decision when it comes to their child. It's like mothers are being punished if they put the father on there. I understand if the father hasn't done anything wrong and wants to be apart of their life but come on mom's decides what's best and always have. so why change?.

I'm gonna look into this because I don't want his name on the birth certificate...I honestly just want him to leave mi alone...he has taken mi thru so much before and during my pregnancy, I'm just at the point where I'm tired😩

Lawmakers are pushing house bill 6064 which faces a rules committee meeting today that says if a father isn't listed on a newborns certificate the certificate will not be issued for the child and any future financial assistance will be denied.

@mommyofidenticaltwins, no all mother have not always decided what's best for their child. Don't be bias be a use you are a mother . Ive seen the waste of situations with mothers and their children. His name being on the certificate shouldn't be such such a big issue simply because you don't have to deal it's him if you don't want to. If it going to help your child in the long run then you have to do what you have to do. There is no such thing as being stubborn when you have a child to take care of

@jaixi, I'm not biased at all. I know in some situations there are different actions. I just meant that some mom's are good judges when it comes to their children. I understand all points in this matter also.

I don't see how they can legally do that, like basically saying unless you choose to have the father on the birth certificate (again I am going to say what if a woman is raped) your child will basically not exist??

@mommyofidenticaltwins, I know some moms who don't always know best. some fathers are great parents and are actually better than some moms. just because we carry the child and push it put doesn't make us sole custodians

@jaixi, oh no I understand. There are some really great dads out there that are being hurt because of the mothers actions.
