What do you ladies do when your at a park and a child is being mean to your child, yet the mother isn't paying any attention to him to discipline him? We were at the park and a little boy with Down syndrome about same age as my son (maybe 5) pushed my son down a pile of wood chips they were playing on. My son is not a violent kid at all he's never been one to push, hit, kick, bite ect. But my son got up and pushed him back. I went over and I said absolutely not you do not push people! My sons response was "but he did it" I ended up just leaving. But earlier while at the park I was pushing my baby in the baby swing and the little boy came over and was trying to climb into the baby swing but was getting super mad because I wouldn't help him (he was way too big for that swing) he started yelling for his mom and again she never once answered to him. She was standing talking to another mom. It just makes me mad, like if your going to take your kids to the park, keep an eye on them...what would you of done??

in my opinion if another child is doing something harmful toward your child and the parent isn't controlling it then it's your right to say something to them. whether it be the kid or the parent. the kid with down syndrome I wouldn't of spoke to directly but to his parent. I'm not one to stand by and let my child beat up on another and I'm not going to stand for it being done to mine.

I would defiantly be like "who's kid is this?" Especially if he's trying to climb in a baby swing with my baby. He could hurt himself and your baby! As for him pushing your little boy I'd just take him and tell him not to play with the boy. If the boy would be old enough or I thought it would do any good I'd talk to his parents but I think that's a judgement call. Some parents are violent when confronted about their kids.

I would've approached his mom, of course they are kids but hitting/pushing is an absolute no no. But do keep in mind kids with Down syndrome/ autism tend to be more violent then normal kids sometimes they don't mean no harm.

I've told kids at the park "please be nice" another adult correcting the behavior is usually enough to put a stop to it. And besides if the other kids mom isn't paying attention she's not going to hear you say "please be nice"

@belizeanbeautyy, that's the main reason I didn't say anything to him. I've worked with individuals with disabilities for the past two years and a half years. And I know sometimes they don't really understand that what they are doing hurts others. I just made sure my son knew not to push others. Just because he was doing it doesn't make it right.
