Well I certainly have gestational diabetes and I have my counseling appt on monday where I will talk about my diet and get my glucose meter they said.
I usually start my morning off with one like its coffee smh. They told me diet drinks but theyre worse than regular.:/@brynden.nicholle.0716
@kbrown91, I still have my regular sodas. I just limit myself to either one q day or one every couple days.
Thanks so much for the pointers and encouragement ladies @brynden.nicholle.0716 @kbrown91
@harrisonpartyof5, Oh okay. Thats why then. I only failed 2 of the 4. So my diet isnt really strict and i dont need medicine. But @brynden.nicholle.0716 gave you a lot of good pointers. lol its difficult but it gets easier once you learn what u can eat. You cant really cut carbs out but you can keep them to a minimum and fruit is really good too. just nothing with added sugars 😊 They told me i could drink diet drinks but diet drinks are really bad on ur body so i stick to water.
yes I failed 3 of the 4 @kbrown91 they said I have to come in and do my consultation and get my meter to check my sugar and see where it is staying then we will talk about medication. yes @serrano_girl sugar has made me feel funny for a while now so I am sure this diet is gonna suck lol. @rodriguezmaribel I am glad to hear that u and ur baby are ok and that she didn't have to stay long in the nicu I am so scared if that
@serrano_girl, really any greens are high in protein, as are eggs and mushrooms. I do an omelet for breakfast with mushroom, tomato, and chives. I typically do a turkey and cheese sandwich for lunch with some pretzels or potato chips. and for dinner I do a meat, a green, and a starch. I still get carbs in my diet... but not nearly as much as I used to.
broccoli has a higher protein content than chicken or pork. @serrano_girl
what other ways are there? I don't eat pork, don't want beef or chicken, nor peanuts or peanut butter @brynden.nicholle.0716
@serrano_girl, there are lots of other ways to get the protein you need. I had to find other ways for a while. I'm still eating everything I used to.. just in moderation and when I feel hungry between meals, I usually go for a salad with a small amount of seasoned chicken or pork.
Its about motivation and the health of yourself and your baby. usually gestational diabetes go away after birth. I just put my calories in a app everyday and it helps me better. But i love fruit and veggies so its really not that hard for me. Keep your calories low and your sugar intake low. You just have to keep thinking of the benefits of your baby. 😊 @serrano_girl
well, I've always been tiny and eat whatever I want. I eat a lot for my size so when they restricted even my calories it's pure torture for me. I'm so hungry. tired, and grumpy. it's even harder because this baby doesn't like meat, and I'm usually a carnivore @brynden.nicholle.0716
Did they tell you that you would need insulin? Did you fail all four test? I downloaded an app to help me keep up with my 1800 calories. water, veggies, fruit, no red meats. I eat my ice cream but only once a week and i dont go past my 1800 calories. I only failed two of mine out of the four. I had preeclampsia with my daughter that is something that is out of your control, it just happens and Gestational diabetes ups your chances but youll just have to monitor your BP girl relax everything will turn i fine!! 😊 @harrisonpartyof5
@harrisonpartyof5, i had preeclampsia, and I'm not gonna lie its pretty scary, but if it's caught on time it'll save you and your baby. I got diagoned at 34 weeks and had my baby a few days later, she was in the NICU for 8 days & got to come home. Not everyone is as lucky as we both were and some babies stay longer, but if you haven't showed any signs I wouldn't worry too much about it. :)
it depends on how much they restrict your diet. honestly, mine hasn't been restricted that much... I just had to change up a few things....like eating less carbs and more veggies and protein. @serrano_girl
why does everyone say this? I have it and am struggling greatly. how do you restrict your eating and not suffer? @kbrown91
yes but no sugar is hard for me :( I love ice cream but really I just want my baby to be ok that what I'm really worried about and the pricking my fingers and the insulin shots but mostly my baby boy I have never gone through this before :( it worries me bc my mom had pre eclampsia when she was pregnant with me and again with my brother I don't want that to happen to me :(
so much worse. lol. they taste so nasty. @kbrown91
