It makes me so happy I can provide milk, but sad that I have to give my baby breast milk through a bottle, but he's just not having the breast 😢
Also you don't have to worry about buying more bc the hospital has some you can ask for! The lanonin kind too :) bc I believe in the store they're like $10? @sharellesocray
Personally I would start using it immediately until you can wean off of it. Sorry this is going to be tmi but my nipples were BLEEDING the first few days bc I didn't know about nipple shields and I had to keep nursing him through it so I wouldn't dry up 😳😵 lol the pain was worse than my csection lol but as soon as I started using the nipple shield my life and nips were saved lol and you only have to use it for a couple weeks while baby learns to latch and then you can switch them to nursing without it by simply starting the session with the shield and quickly removing it and putting them back on your boob. Sorry this is such a long response but I wish I knew these things before I first nursed :) @sharellesocray
@mamadove, omg I purchased one for myself but not sure when a good time to start using it? I was hoping as soon as I get home from the hospital lol?
Also @deefrasee don't be too hard on yourself, you're doing great by your baby putting in all that extra work of pumping! Don't give up if you don't want to, lactation consultants can fix any latch problem especially since you have kept your supply up! But also don't feel like a failure if you have to keep pumping or even if you have to switch to formula. Being a new mom is overwhelming and the important thing is that mom and baby are healthy, unstressed, and baby is fed. Don't feel guilty you're doing great!
