A week old and guzzling 4oz bottles every 3 hours😅 I'm making on demand and it's just not working, far too stressful when he's screaming the place down😩 how do you ladies do your bottles? I was boiling water and putting it in the bottles and leaving the bottles to cool then putting them in the fridge, then heating for 20 seconds in the microwave before adding the formula. Midwife had a skiddy and said I shouldn't do it like that and should make on demand, but it's just impossible because he's so unpredictable!! Help ladies!!! 😳

Do what's best for you and your baby, I personally prefer to follow guidelines but guidelines change all the time, I bet in a few years time they will tell you not to make bottles on demand and that you have to do it a certain way, the rest of my family made bottle up how you do and never had a problem xx

tbh I use flask and its amazing,. bought 500ml one which keeps hot water hot for 12 hours (Thermos brand)from Asda £6 bargain ... I boil water n let it cool in the kettle for 15 mins and den put in flask and keep in my room ... tadddddaaa .. !!! so when he needs I just quickly pour hot water in bottle and den formula .. yeah shake it baby .. and then run bottle under cold water if its too hot.. othherwise lil shake or let it cool by itself for couple of minutes will solve the purpose meanwhile you can do little talking, cuddles will calm them down if they are too unsettled.. SO every time my son had like fresh made feed ! hope it helps everyone whosoever try! X

@beccastirlingx, I was pre - making them like that. I asked my midwife when Evie was first born and she told me it's absolutely fine to do that, just make sure your hands are always clean and that good hygiene is most important. I've since invested in a perfect prep machine and literally cannot recommend it enough! They always go to half price in the baby events, definitely worth every penny! Xxx

@emmaclark, exactly! Aslong as baby is being fed and it isn't making them ill that's all that matters! Xx

I make up about 3-4 at a time, leave them to cool then refrigerate them then heat in the microwave making sure I shake them a lot to avoid hot spots! I used to make on demand but like u say it's so hard when you have a hungry baby, Lewis can throw a right tantrum when he's hungry😩 I know ur not supposed to but I've never had any problems with the way I do it haha, gotta do what u gotta do xx

@cayleighnatasha, sounds similar to what I'm doing, I add the formula once I've heated it! So glad I'm not the only one that can't make on demand x

I don't have a problem making on demand, I usually boil the kettle every hour (you can use the water up to 30 mins after it's been boiled) so that way it's usually there ready to make the bottle then I cool it down in freezing water , however I am trying the prep machine as my friend is selling hers really cheap haha x

@sophgreenx, I don't know how you do it! I've done it for 2 days and I've literally struggled to find time to eat, drink or shower because I never know when he's settled for long enough for me to go ahead and do something without having to jump up and make a bottle! @baby316 yeah, I know. I'm adding stress to myself listening to them all😂 @abiruth thank you! Xx

I make my bottles the same way. It's impossible to make on demand. My family nurse told me to just make them which ever way is easier for you xx

Yes @tuftyturtle is right. Health visitors are useless and very patronising most of the time so I wouldn't always listen to them. Xx

I did it exactly how you did it. The prep machine is the same concept. It uses say 3oz or cooled water and adds a 1oz shot of boiled water. so absolutely no different really. I would just do what you done before if you was happy with it. There are some things that you just don't tell your midwife or health visitor if you want an easy life 😂

Tommee Tippee perfect prep machine is fantastic. With my first child I made the bottles by boiling the kettle and putting the bottle in a jug of ice water in the fridge and waiting for it to cool but it was a nightmare waiting whilst baby screamed this time I have a Tommee Tippee machine and it takes 2 minutes and makes the feed to the correct temperature. Definitely worth the money xx

That's how we did it and how my dad recently did it too and our babies are fine and it's what I plan to do. Midwifes and health visitors won't agree and have a hissy as they have to stick to the book!! Obviously every baby is different, but was just fine for my little boy and baby brother xx
