Does anyone else have latching problems with breast feeding? I had to give my three day old a bottle tonight of emergency formula, because I don't have my breast pump yet and he just can't latch onto my nipples and didn't eat for a long time 😢 makes me sad

@junesmommy15, @wiccanmommy @cmbwalker @oliviasmama1211 thank you ladies 💕 I didn't realize my milk was trying to come in, and he was having trouble latching that's why and I didn't have my pump yet. Had to make my husband go buy a small one and he's a lot happier now ☺️

I had the same problem! I had to use a nipple shield. The nurses recommended it because Olivia wouldn't take my nipple at all. The have them at target 😘

I'm right there with you. I'm still in the hospital and don't have back up formula. so it makes me super sad that my baby might not be getting all he needs. not to mention since he wasn't latching correctly the first day, my nipples hurt so bad! best of luck momma!

Of your boobs are too swollen with milk they may not be able to get a good latch on the nipple. These ladies^^know what they are talking about 😆. You can also try to hand express some milk if you don't have your pump. Or try a warm compress on the area for a little bit before nursing to soften the breast so the nipple is more available. Good thing you had backup formula! I made sure we got some also! Best of luck!

it's very common. you should talk to a lactation consultant, they can see what's happening and help accordingly. babies and mom's have a learning curve when it comes to breastfeeding.

This is what I used to do; pump for about two minutes and then latch the baby. It will help that milk flow start and also protrude your nipple a bit.
