It's more to test to make sure u arnt closely related. Its not so relevant now since they have such good records on everyone but back In the day really didn't so a test was just to be safe.

@babytj0214, the blood sample used to be used to make sure you weren't related but most places don't require that anymore.

The paper is what makes u married lol. U have to apply for a marriage license. Both u and ur partner b have to be present and there is a fee. The license is good for a month. Once u get that u get someone who is licensed to perform a marriage (a judge or priest or a friend who got registered online). U guys exchange vows (what you say doesn't really matter) and the licensed person signs the marriage license and sends it in (basically the time and date the marriage was performed and what county etc) and in about 2 weeks u get ur marriage certificate in the mail and declares that you were officially married on that day. It's honestly all about paper work.

@twins1987, we are all women at work so we talk about TV shows and sex and our bf, we'll most of them are married... then one day she's like remember when they took blood sample when u go to court to get married ? where I live we had to fill out the paperwork and pay $70 then either go to our place of worship or judge and get a paper signed once that's done we turned it in and maybe a week later we received our marriage license

@twins1987, thank you. I've been to a lot of weddings since I was 5. I thought you go to church and reception and party and that's it lol !!!!

I guess it's different in each state I did mine in Tn my husband and I went we showed our id and went over some things with a lady we then signed some papers she gave us like proof a couple of weeks later we went to a wedding chapel where they had our marriage license and we exchanged vows your best bet is to call a local wedding chapel and ask them what's the process instead of listening to other people they could be wrong @babytj0214

@twins1987, someone said we go to courthouse to apply, then that takes a while to be processed then go back and do the vows thing and sign wit a witness then wait for the stupid paper to come in the mail or pick it up..... then ur actually married..... ugh....
