I had a c-section on April 9...am i able to drive?

@dandrade21, I've had 2 unwanted c-sections and the second one really kicked my ass. I didn't do much driving either, just 5 minutes down the road to see my doctor. Other than that, I didn't leave the house lol. And with the pain meds, even if u don't feel drowsy or whatever but something should happen, they'll charge you with a DUI.... So better safe than sorry. I only drove with my ibuprofen, not with my hydrocodone

@dandrade21 Pain meds make you drowsy so they warn not to operate heavy machinery or drive while on it

@karnamarie, what can the medication do? I've been on them (not all the time) but i don't drive right away after taking them, i don't feel sleepy or anything like that.

@jennatess @bri28 I've been good to drive, i just don't over do it. mostly Always at home. the recovery sucks, not being able to just get up and go and carry carseat with your baby in it, always having to watch what you do so your cut doesn't open. -_-

I drove. I didn't have any choice, my husband is gone all week and comes home only on weekends. I made sure I wasn't on pain meds tho

Most doctors recommend waiting 6 weeks after your C-Section before driving. Waiting that long covers both health and safety reasons. I was told to wait 6 weeks but I waited about 5. Many women play it by ear and if they feel well enough to drive they do.

I would say so. I drove at 1 week post. As long as you are off any heavy pain meds and your incision is healing good I would think it's ok. Just take it easy. The biggest thing doctors worry about is an accident happening and because your abdomen is still healing it may cause serious damage
