My labour story!
2 weeks late but have been very occupied!
So, i went into labour on the 12th April i started having contractions 10 minutes apart over the next 2 days they then started coming every 3 minutes so i took myself to hospital!
I was only 1cm dilated but in severe pain! After another 24 hours i reached 5cm and was taken to have my waters broken! After 5 failed attempts i finally had an epidural which felt amazing!
After another 12+ hours i wasn't dilating past 6cm so i had to have an emergency c section, all went okay and my little girl was finally here after 4 days in labour!!! 8 pound 4 1/2 little chunk!
Sadly something was really wrong with my little girl and she was taken straight to special care, after a day in our local hospitals special care unit they couldn't find what was wrong with her and i was woken at 4am by a doctor saying they were transferring her to oxford hospital! I was in bits as i hadn't even held her yet and she was being taken so far away from me!
Later that day i was told i could be transferred as a patient to the same hospital but first i needed a blood transfusion and started on another 5 medications for several things which took 6 hours! Then finally at around 11pm that night i got to the same hospital as her and saw her briefly before bed.
The next morning i went straight to her and finally after 3 days i got to hold my little girl who by this point had wires coming from everywhere and still hadn't had a feed! After 2 days at oxford hospital they ruled out anything serious and said i had an infection in labour which had passed on to her and because of her not being born naturally she had alot of bile in her tummy that she was having syringed out gradually! Finally she had her first tube feed and within 24 hours she was off all machines and being bottle fed by me! The next morning we were both discharged!
Since being discharged both of us have had constant problems up until now!
I can honestly say i had such a nasty experience its put me off for a long time!
Drugs used whilst in labour - codeine, diamorphine, tens machine, paracetamol, temazipan, epidural & spinal block.
Hopefully this doesnt put anyone off haha!
Thank you ☺️ yeah totally worth it! Xx @bambi16
