My baby's head is flat on one side because he refuses to sleep on the other side of his head. 😧 No matter what I try to do to keep it turned, nothing works. What should I do? Never really had this issue with my other kids. Also, will his head even itself out or will it be flat forever? 😟

I worried about that with my LO because she favors her left side when she's laying flat. She's 9 weeks and I read that it really makes an impact between 3-36 months. So I think they normally regulate themselves unless they have a medical condition (torticollis). I mentioned it to my pedi at her 2 month and she wasn't concerned. But still, when we have play time I make sure her attention is fixated on the opposite side. And they make things that prop them up on their side when they sleep...I have one but haven't used it yet.

Any questions about it all, from physical therapy, to the helmet, the benefits or anything just messege me! I asked a lot of questions so I was very educated on the subject, I love helping when I actually know something lol

also it basically ends when you are comfortable with the shape. We get his helmet adjusted every 2 weeks because they need it as the head grows. The person that does it says she thinks we wont need it much longer and shes not worried about it going flat again as his "tortacolis(head turning one way) is gone and he no longer sleeps on his back, but . its all when I feel comfortable with the shape

No not really if you take it off too early it can go back to being flat. But it something you don't want to wait on if he needs it because it can continue to get worse and be harder to correct. I'm sure you're dr can tell you more about then I can though. You can make an appt for it or just mention it at the next checkup

for the first couple days they wear it for an hour and half at a time then you take it off for a 30 min break so they can get used to it. Then they wear it for 22-23 hours a day and you give him 30 min breaks through out the day. They even wear it sleeping but honestly they get used to it quick! I take it off more then that though because it can get warm

like so I put it on and take it off or is it something that has to stay on for a few months?

The dr can fit him with a correcting helmet, the baby will wear it for a few months. It helps a lot and is well worth it in the long run.

It'll probably even itself out. My daughters was like that and when I brought it up to our dr he said it'll most likely fix itself but that if it didn't we would take care of it then. Mention it to his pediatrician at the next visit and see what they say

I have that issue with my son, he had to start physical therapy at 2 months to get his head to turn the other way. It a not easy! You basically have to force their head that way a few times a day,its like exercises. Mine never corrected itself so he wears a helmet to reshape it, that started at 4 months, they say between 4-9 months is the best time because that is when their he's is growing the fastest, after 9 months its pointless.

If you can get him to switch sides it will even out. Their skulls don't harden and take their real shape until almost 2 years of age!
