My daughter is 9 days old and her umbilical cord just fell off, I was told it would be 2 weeks before that would happen?? There's a little bit of a smell to it that wasn't there before it fell off. Hospital refuses to give medical advice over the phone, her pediatrician won't answer, my ob never calls back even if it's an after hours emergency, can someone please tell me if/how I should clean it or something?? I'm freaked out a little. This is my first child.

Ours fell early too she said leave it alone for a couple days and keep it dry that's raw skin... Well correction I think it was rubbed and pulled off by accident from visitors holding him
Keep it clean & dry. It should heal up just fine. If it starts oozing then see the dr
we had to see a dr when hers was put last minute and he tore my daughters umbelical chord off at 6 days old.
hers was like that too. just clean it like normal, dont soak in a tub
keep cleaning it the same way you have been and if it starts to look any worse get her to the Dr. sometimes it does fall off sooner
