Moms, we should all keep in mind that there are fellow moms who have special needs babies. Fellow moms who have loved ones who are special needs. The word "retarded" is so ignorant! It breaks my heart when people use it so freely. It's like calling me a "nigger" or you a "cracker". It's hateful!
@bwitmer, they really do! I have a cousin who is in her 40s but has the brain of a 9 year old, she is a blast! in my oldest sons case is extremely difficult because he just doesnt understand what is going on in his head so its more of a pain, and it takes a lot of patience and time. He is a real sweetheart though and I just wanna kick peoples asses that want to make fun of him!
@xoxo512070, that's sad! I work with adults with disabilities. They are my favorite people! I would rather hang with them than hang with "normal" folk. They make life so much more fun!
My son has severe ADHD and ODD and because he cant process things like other kids, he has been called that. My FIL in one to piss me off about making fun of special needs. My baby is in a helmet for a few months and he insists on acting dumb, says things like "Gotta get my helmet and ride the short bus" like UM excuse me?! my baby has a helmet and my oldest rides the little bus because of how severe his conditions are he is considered disabled. It makes me sick!
@towens921, it's so sad. There are moms dealing with having babies with Down's syndrome. We should support them I'm sure they are worried that their babies will grow up being called words like retards.
Nailed it @bwitmer ...point them in my direction, I'll handle it. Peoples ignorance is astounding.
