Constipation at 7 weeks! I've tried Karo syrup, apple juice, and now using suppositories. Is there anything else I can do? Is it possible that her formula is all of a sudden causing this?
@brieeleigh yeah I've tried that. I'm honestly at a standstill. I want to switch her to something like good start or enfamil but I don't want to make it worse.
@andrrea they don't even offer that where I live though.
try doing bicycle movements with her legs to get everything moving around .. My pedi told me not to do anything with Apple cause it binds the baby up.. but you can try a little bit of prune juice but it might be to harsh on the belly only at 7 weeks..
Same problem we had, worked at first but I gave up on the doctors, all they do is give medicine. I went and dos it on my own, hated seeing my baby in pain, if I were you I'd go for it and try this formula, it's expensive but if it works tell your ped and insurance should cover it, I get mine for free now.
ugh.. ok so it must be her formula. I just don't understand why it started backing her up all of a sudden. she was fine the first couple of weeks but now her bowel movements are solid and I've done nothing different. do you recommend I change it on my own? or should I wait for the ped? she wants to put her on meds but I don't want that. @andrrea
My baby could not use similac at all, constipated for a month and a half, I was tired beyond words having to give her things to go, she shouldn't have to depend on anything until we figured it out its all milk problems so we had to switch to neutramigen. Within 2 hours of starting it she went and hasn't had a problem since!!
yeah see I've tried all of that temporary stuff. she's talking about prescribing her something but I'm sick of my baby having to ingest so many different things at such a young age. so I think I'm gonna change the formula. she's currently on similac sensitive. which one do you recommend? @queenof3
I had this issue with my baby starting at 6 weeks. It was horrible. The Dr. told me to give her 4 oz apple or pear juice twice a day & don't dilute it. It helped a little. I gave her gripe water & that helped but those were all temporary. I finally changed the formula & problem was solved.
Mix miralax with apple juice. That's what my doctor had me to do. It was a life saver. I only did it until I started pooping regularly. And since then I haven't had to use anymore but I keep it around just in case.
Why don't you try calling your insurance? My pharmacy doesn't carry it either but they get it when I need it.
