Mine was 3rd degree (to the bum muscles) and had mine done in theatre and was horrible only just stopped hurting 5 weeks later! I also had antibiotics prescribed with mine just to kill off any infection but I washed with shower head once/twice a day unless (sorry tmi) there was loads of blood or I had a nasty loose stool then I would wash again😊 x

A little bit of tea tree oil I. The bath it's a natural antiseptic, wet a maternity pad and pop it in the freezer, when u use it pop a dry one on top so you don't have a frozen pad stuck to your sore bits, and arnica tablets help you heal quicker.

My midwife told me to put a few drops of lavender oil on the bath to help the stitches heal......but after my second baby the my told me no baths. few showers. keep it as dry as possible. SOOOO they make it up as they go along. It's almost impossible to keep too clean coz you obviously bleed so just wash when you shower or have a bath and you wil be ok x

Also buy a childrens swimming ring to sit on :) it will take pressure/weight of the stitches and be more comfortable x

Just hose it with the shower head :) I had 3 showers aday :) also a soak in the bath is great reduces swelling etc :) just don't put any soap on it...Mine healed within 2 weeks :) The stitches dissolved and fell out xx

Tbh it's near enough impossible to keep clean cos area so don't worry xx

@cmcdon203, okay dokey! I've washed it down with the shower and will do the same in the morning! Just hate going to the toilet and having to dab dry! Xx

Well my episiotomy burst open ( stil open I call it my third hole lol) it got badly Infected it's just cos where it is! They told me 2 showers a day and hose it when Iv been to loo! Single maw like I have time for that shite! I did shower twice a day tho xx

I had 3rd degree tear I put radox stuff in Bath (ill find out which one exactly) helped heal me quicker too xx
