Have any moms had something called a gel ripening done? I haven't dilated more than 1 cm and my due date is tomorrow. So my dr has me going to L & D on Wednesday for a gel ripening. she told me I would go in get it done and they will hold me for two hours then send me home. That's all I kno. Can anyone explain to me what exactly they will do and y they keep me for 2 hours afterwards?

Depends on your cervix all in all. Everybody is different, maybe uncomfortable . They put gel on your on cervix to help dialate
@mommyto3girls1boy, but if they keep me to see how fast or slow I go into labor y did they say they would send me home after 2 hours? And do u kno what exactly they do during a gel ripening? Like how they put the gel in or if it hurts or anything like that?
It's gel to help you dialate and they keep to observe how fast or slow it makes you go into labor
