Question !? I have recently posted about this but I just want to know if there is any other mommies out there…

My first ultrasound showed I was a week behind based upon my last period. The next one two weeks later showed I was only 5 days behind my original due date. The second one was when they officially changed my due date. Sometimes you ovulate later in your cycle, so it doesn't necessarily mean anything is wrong ☺

so due dates are based on a general ovulation cycle?

my first one they said i was only bout 5 weeks. went back a week later and they said i was 9...changed my due date 3 times before settin it officially.

Due dates are based on the first day of your last period (if you know it). Otherwise they have to guess based on the ultrasounds.

The first due date is based off your last period. They also determine how far along you are based off your last period. As the baby grows, the due date could change based off how big or small the baby is. My due date changed 4 times. It was May 29 based off my last period and then changed to May 25 and then may 18 after my 20 week anatomy scan and then may 13 after an ultrasound at 32 weeks

well after having a miscarriage I stopped keeping track :/ so there's no way i can tell.. my fiance doesn't remember anymore than I do, I'm not sure if I had one in February but I know I didn't in march.

my first sono at 6 weeks 1 day was off a week as well, at 17 weeks 4 days that sono revealed I was actually 18 weeks 4 days (exactly where I should be based on period), in the beginning the baby is so small and growing so fast that it's probably a little off but it will catch back up. As for them saying you might have to come back for another it's probably the techs mistake or he/she saw something questionable and have to talk to the radiologist before telling you, the radiologist then decides if it's anything to worry about. It could be where your placenta is placed or something simple so I wouldn't worry about it until they do a follow up. At my sono at 18 weeks I was told the same thing and my doctor said it's just because my daughter was asleep and stubborn and they didn't get the pics they needed

well the only reason I'm even concerned is because at 6w the babies heart beat was only 110 and I'm seeing woman as far as me with 140-160 BPM....

@princessalaynasmommy, it's pretty common for them to repeat an ultrasound if development doesn't match according to last period.

@jesterr, due date is based off of first date of last period, but in cases with irregular periods or longer cycles (typical is 28 days, but mine is closer to 32 days for example) your doctor may rely on the ultrasound to better determine due date.

I was thinking about maybe getting a 4D so no gram when I'm around "13-15" weeks tpp see what's really up lol

my first sonogram was measuring me one week ahead of what doc said I was.

my cycles are 42 days if I cycle at all, the first few weeks it's easy to have the dates off, it's really more accurate when they can measure the baby

Maybe at my next ultrasound they'll have a more accurate due date

Yup so you're the perfect person for them to go by ultrasound @princessalaynasmommy and can I say I'm a little jealous lol!

@mommagotbump16, nothing to be jealous of they won't give me more than two sonos I had to go to the hospital for the first and the second was the anatomy scan. I'll have one more because my daughter was subborn but that's probably it :p

Oh no I meant the going that long between periods part! My OB is the same way - I only got the second one to confirm dd, otherwise my second would've been anatomy scan. She may order one at the very end if she's worried about his head size because I'm small. @princessalaynasmommy
