my baby shower is 3 hours from home and I'm not having it until I'm 38 weeks pregnant (I'm in the Army and so is my husband so we had no other time to do it)

I had one at 30 weeks and one at 32 weeks both out of town. I also went back out of town at 34 weeks but it was only 2.5 hrs away. we also took our hospital bag in case we needed to go to the hospital there. thankfully we didnt.

i had mine 8 hrs away at 32 weeks which is like the last week your allowed to travel
