Just looked at my instructions and I have a convertible crib also and it showed it going the way you had it thr first time correctly.

Well shit girl, I have mine like your first pic and it seems super low. Maybe I need to redo it. lol. I gotta check my manual now.

It looks right I have a convertible one and I've used it that way but I never used the bed skirt but maybe have your SO change it the other way
