Did anyone else hear about the pit that mauled a 3 day old baby? Personally I wouldn't leave my pit with my newborn not even for 1 second near each other 😢
Got to remember that Pitbulls were once Nanny dogs before they were fighters.
Any dog can be unpredictable with a baby human. Its why we watch, and pay attention haha.
Now that I looked into it since she didnt put up the full story what happend was The family was laying in bed with the dog, and baby, and the mother sufdenly coughed, and startled the dog, and he unexpectedly bit the baby. He did not maul the child. He bit the baby without meaning too.
We have a pit and an American bulldog and they're both going to be great siblings to our baby. They're both so gentle with our friends kids and babies. It's all about how they're raised. I'm more concerned about my mother in laws terrier who's snappy and unpredictable.
It all depends on how it was raised pits love babies some of em are crazy but all dogs are like that I have a schnauzer and a 1 year sister he bite her a couple times so it's not just pits
I notice male dogs that have stuck around their litter and the female dog that birthed them tend to be very calm with babies of humans.
Elliot will cry in his crib and Cecil goes and lays down next to him on our bed. Cecil was a rescue, we didn't know his background. He doesn't freak out and get all stupid when Elliot cries or makes noises, he just chills by him.@gingermama
Legit we raised 7 pitbulls. All were sweet hearts. One we sold to a poor kid with muscular dystrophy. She is turning 2 on may 3rd and they still have her.
In my personal opinion unless a dog has prior expirience with a baby, no, they shouldnt be left alone with one because someone thinks they are okay with small children. What normally provokes a dog is the high pitched svreech of a baby. Its an alert aound to them. Some dogs take it as a cry for help, and end up protecting the baby, some dogs take it as a alarm, and it sets them off.
I have a 1/2 pit 1/2 boxer and he is so gentle around Elliot, always giving him kisses and licking his feet. Pits get a bad rep and it's super annoying, It's all in how they're raised. I've had more chihuahuas come at me aggressively. I've never been bit by a pit.
😢😭
