@paris824, yes, I had it for the full 5years. I got it right after I had my son, who is 7 now. I had the 2nd one for 2 years.
@amandab, did you keep it for the full 5 years the first time around?
Some people have bleeding and some don't.I had cramping after I got it removed and bled for a month straight though. I loved not having a period.lol It makes your period super light and way shorter. It was like I was just spotting for like 2-3 days. Then they went away. I'm thinking about getting the mirena again after I have my baby in June.
@amandab, maybe I'm bleeding because I literally just got off my period. But I did cramp a little after it was put in. I so hope my period goes away lol
@paris824, I didn't get any cramping or bleeding after getting in. My periods were very light to where I only had to use a panty liner and then fully disappeared after about 6 months.
@amandab, did you cramp and bleed when you first got it in? If so for how long? How long did it take for you not to have periods?
@wisconsinmom, I just got mine put in today. So I'm curious and want to hear other people's opinions.
I've had it twice and loved it!! It is VERY effective and my periods completely went away. The second one was hitting me a little because it wasn't up far enough forso I decided to get it removed. I ended up pregnant 2 months after getting removed and going on the pill.
it's not for everyone though.. I've heard some horror stories
since November. I got it at my 6 weeks appointment. it hurt to get it put in. all I had was a little cramping and then light bleeding. now I don't get my periods and no cramps!

A Statement from Mom.Life:
Hey everyone!
Last night, a new user began messaging our moms asking for private pictures of toddlers and young children. This is obviously unacceptable behavior, and the account was banned immediately. Although thankfully extremely rare on Mom.Life, several users were understandably upset by this, so we wanted to clarify a few things:
First off, Mom.Life has an absolute zero tolerance policy for child abuse and those who would prey on children. We strive to ...
the amount of women who are clueless about their own anatomy is so sad and shocking. a lot of the women are older than me and have more children then I do 😳
now I understand that everyone has their own opinion on the topic and grown adults can do whatever they want with their bodies but to deny facts and make up false statements about your own anatomy when it comes to your unborn child is just so disappointing.
