so mamas. I'm 37 weeks today with my first and really starting to worry about the whole labor thing.. hospitals/doctors really freak me out so I'm hoping for an unmedicated no-intervention labor. I'd say my pain tolerance is pretty high... but does anyone want to share some stories with me? meds or no meds? experiences?

I wanted no meds to but I was in on and off again labor for 3 days and in so much pain I eventually caved in and got a epidural

did you feel okay afterwards? I've read stories about people having bad reactions to the meds

I wanted natural but wasn't opposed to the epidural. The contractions got pretty tough though so I got the epidural and I'm so happy I did. I would give my labor and delivery a 10/10 because it was perfect. By the time it was time to push, I was able to feel the contractions again but I couldn't feel down there so I didn't feel the pain of the baby coming out. I labored 8am-5:26pm I gave birth, got epidural around 12

pregnant with my first as well however I took a birth class and many woman in there had their babies and 3 of them had a natural birth. they said that it's not easy but right when you think you just can't take it anymore, your probably already there (at 10 cm) they said the biggest advice they can give is to just not give up

also take advantage of your natural birth choice! try a squatting position on your knees while pushing, get up and walk around, take a nice hot bath and just allow yourself to drift away and work with the Contractions, not against them as the warm water cascades down. listen to soothing music. try everything you can to be as relaxed as possible and take your time pushing.

I would do things much differently if I had the chance. I was to be induced Sunday night at 8 pm. We got there at 7 and they started the pitocin, when we got there I was dilated to a 5. They gave me morphine so I could sleep that night and the next morning at 6 my doctor broke my water. I finally dilated to a 9 by the end of that evening but was stuck there. By Tuesday afternoon I began running a fever and the baby seemed to be in distress, very erratic heart rate, they were talking about a c-section by late that night. I told them I wanted to wait as long as possible and they agreed as long as the baby's heart rate stayed normal. The next morning I was finally dilated to a 9.5 and my doctor scrubbed up and I had him vaginally. He was born on Wednesday at 8:36 am. I had been in active labor for over 36 hours, I had gotten the epidural and wasn't allowed to walk or even get out of bed the entire time. Just my experience. You can do it momma!
