Anyone been prescribed the antibiotic Trimethoprim in the 2nd trimester?

it took me 3-4 weeks to get a letter than I had to call them to arrange an appointment which they than cancelled and rebooked

🙈 oh gosh! That's too long. I'll be on their case after a week because I'm constantly on the move, I work on my feet & I don't like pain killers so I need it sorted asap.

My doctor wouldnt prescribe me trimethropin for a water infection, she said you can't take it during pregnancy so gave me something else?

@zaralee71, the Dr prescribed it for me Monday night and said I'm in the second trimester so it's ok I wasn't sure so this morning I asked my GP and she said not to take it. Glad I didn't just follow her word because it can decrease folic acid production x

These doctors really need to do their checks on medicine before prescribing x

She checked in her blue medication book @zaralee71 but was in a rush. This was the doc in the out patients clinic in a hospital. She was also very cold towards us, no empathy whatsoever

That says to me she didn't check properly because the doctor I saw checked her book and then checked the online version to make sure she was giving me the right thing. It's a good thing you checked with your GP x

Yeah it is. When I checked online it did say ok from 2nd trimester but why would I want to take something that may reduce the amount of folic acid when my baby still needs it? Even though they tell you to stop taking it at 12/13 weeks it's still an ingredient in all pregnancy multivitamin which means it must still be beneficial to baby. She's probably fed up with her job tbh and just does what she has to get through the day
