I guess it depends on the hospital. I'm here now, had my son last night after 21 hours of labor, and I'll be leaving tomorrow.

I'm having my child at cabell in Huntington wv, we took a tour and the nurse told me we would be there 48 hours after the baby was born. I thought all places done 48 because they did but I guess not.

i believe so, i was cut severely and was aloud to leave exactly 24 hours after I gave birth. they only checked me for the first 6 hours, then 2 hours before i left. but checked the baby every few hours, that's mainly why they make you stay at least 24 hrs

Would it be the same if you tear really bad like 3rd or 4th degree? @tiffanigypsy8
