It sounds like my baby getting eye drops is a given even if I delay an hour. I don't see it as necessary because I've been tested for STD's and have nothing, but recent midwife is adamant. Opinions/thoughts?

My BRother in law is an optometrist and insists they are necessary because they also help with general bacteria and protect baby from going blind, I personally still agree with you. My hospital insists on it so we will be having them, although delayed,

I have a feeling it's the same at my hospital because there was no option on the birth plan to decline it.

My son isn't vaccinated but the eye drops after birth are the only thing I let him have, I don't remember why now (had him 7 yrs ago) but now I'm going to look and see

But if you don't want something they can't force you, even at hospitals, they'll try to bully you but ultimately it's your choice and they'll make you sign a waiver
