apparently not because there was nothing in the xray and my pregnancy is going well with no complications. I'm thinking that since my doctor had such a hard time inserting the iud it probably broke then and fell out without me knowing about it some time later. The iud is a T shaped device and once it was removed it was just an L shape, missing only one tiny arm....So that is a possible circumstance. Just make sure that you completely educate yourself on it before you decide that's what you want to do. I know I didn't but wish I would have. Good luck to you and I hope everything goes wonderfully!

@maybaby2016 Good god, I'm sorry all thst happened to you! I know I will end up fainting more than likely, I faint very easy at medical stuff.. Do you think the other half is still embedded in your uterus? That's so freaky to think that it was never found

@marce88, thank you and yes most people have a great experience. I was told so many good things about it which is why I chose that form of bc to begin with but it just didn't work out for me. after all of this happening I had an account on baby center, so I posted about it and found so many other women who shared the same experience as me. They don't tell you that part. it was scary but I'm glad it worked out for you. like I said before, just because it was bad for me doesn't mean it will be bad for someone else.

@tiffanigypsy8 I forgot to add that I had my iud removed in April 2015 just in case you were curious as to how long after removal the miscarriage occurred

removal: long story short, the iud has imbedded itself into my tissue over the 5 years it's been inside my body so my doctor can't find it and she is digging around in my uterus with her tools that, to me feel like knives. she finally finds it and has to tug a few times (I'm crying at this point) she finally gets it out and is completely silent for like !0 minutes while she examines the extracted iud on a table across the room. apparently it's broken in half and that has also never happened to her in her 25 years of experience lol. I had to have xrays done to find the other piece (they never found it) I was required to send the paraguard company a letter written by my doctor requesting complete reimbursement for my costs since my device was defective. I passed clots of tissue for two days after. I got pregnant in July and lost the baby at almost 6 weeks. I got pregnant again in September and am currently 34 weeks pregnant with my rainbow baby.

insertion: I was told by my doctor that there would be mild discomfort and after it was over I could just walk out and go home, just to take some otc pain meds before I come in. I took some of my MIL prescription ibuprofen to be on the safe side. so I'm laying there ready for insertion and the iud gets stuck in the plastic tube and will not insert into my uterus (this is painful causing the plastic tube to scrape me from the inside) I'm crying because it really hurts and finally it pops and my doctor keeps apologising to me and she says that that has never happened in her 20 years of experience. as I'm checking out and making my next appointment I get really dizzy and I see all the nurses rush to me , one says "omg she's going to faint" so they literally carry me to a room (3 nurses) and fan me and give me juice. lol that freaked me out and was the weirdest thing I've ever felt.

@maybaby2016 I'm actually interested in hearing about your experience, I like to hear as much as I can from different women to get a good knowledge of it.

I had Paraguard for five years before I decided to conceive again. I had a terrible experience with the insertion and removal. I do not recommend them but I won't go into detail unless you're interested in hearing about it, remember that not everyone has the same experience so what was horrible for me may not be for you.

@marce88 I'm nervous about getting it put in because I heard it feels like a weird pinch inside your uterus for the first few hours! But thanks for letting me know to bring some advil.
